The Complete Works Thus far we have a photographic record of over two hundred paintings, a dozen three dimensional pieces including painted furniture, and around eighty drawings. Most of these images are now on this website. Unfortunately, in over 70 percent of cases, the information alongside the work merely states 'Title Unknown, Present Whereabouts, Unknown.' This is both good - Frances' work was very popular and is now owned by many fans and collectors around the world. And bad - because in order to produce 'The Complete Works of Frances Turner' we now have to trace as much of this work as we can. Without this information we will be unable to produce either the catalogue, or a Retrospective of Frances' work. We therefore invite you to take a look at the material we have assembled so far and get in touch with us if you can help. Often the photo or slide we do have is in poor condition, as you will see by some of the images on this site. Nonetheless, if you see something you recognise please let us know. If you are the owner or you know the owner, can you send us answers to the following questions? What is the title of the work? Do you know when it was painted or what exhibitions it might have been in? What size is it? What materials? Who owns it? Where is it? If you are the owner, would you be prepared to have your work professionally photographed and sent to us as 35mm slides? Are you prepared to let you work go out on exhibition? If you are not the owner, but you know who is, can you get in touch with them and tell them what the Frances Turner Trust is doing on her behalf? If you have a piece of work that is not represented on the site, and we suspect that there may be a lot of work for which we have no record, could you have it professionally photographed and sent to us as 35mm slides? We need this information soon and will value any help you can give us. Owners of Frances' work might also be interested to know that her gallery in New York are offering a free legal appraisal service of Frances' work. Normally they charge $100 per work but for Frances, they are prepared to make an exception. Owners will get a certificate of authenticity, issued by Art@Large's licensed appraiser. This document is legal for insurance purposes. We need from you a photograph, plus information about where the work was obtained and how much was paid. We also need to know what are the materials. What is the size without the frame. Plus whether there are any marks, notes, or Frans signature. Even if you are unable to help in any way with these questions, we hope you will still enjoy the show. |
